A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
