The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
